  I became aware of the practice of mindfulness through my interest in psychology, concentrating particularly upon stress reduction and mental optimization. After reading a few books I was convinced the practice could be beneficial, so, I began searching for places to learn in Glasgow.
  
  I tried a couple of different places before I found the mindfulness centre (at the time I was unaware is a tenement Buddhist Temple) which is run by the venerable Sri Lankan Buddhist Monk of the Theravada tradition Bhante Rawatha Thero, who else better to run a mediation course i thought? I took the taster session course to help me decide if the course was what I was seeking, the taster course did exactly that and i booked up for the 8 week MSBR.
  
  I met some lovely people while doing the course and had the pleasure of being taught by both Bhante and the lovely Nelum, in a comfortable, relaxed and peaceful pocket of Maryhill.
  
  The course has had a transformative effect on my life and although I am still very much a novice, I feel I have learned a tool to enable me to move through life with more balance and perspective, and ultimately less stress!
